Automatic Ticket Machines
Friday, 25 March 2011
A word of caution when buying tickets via an ATM at railway stations. It has come to our notice that ATM's are not always giving out the correct tickets around the non peak hours. For instance one of our members bought a ticket for Lincoln 'just before' boarding the train at a few minutes before non-peak rate was due to start . He was shocked to find that he was issued a ' peak' ticket not a non-peak rate ticket, at the extra cost. This was taken up with the TOC which were aware of this and say that the issue was with the software and will be addressed in the near future. As ATM are now common place we would strongly advise you to check the price of your ticket before travelling and if in any doubt get it at the booking office.
